NFL Playoffs

NYJ v. PIT (PIT 8 ½) J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets to lose, but Big Ben won't cover STL v. ATL (ATL 7) The dirty south to win and cover MIN v. PHI (PHI 8 1/2) Bad Moon Rising to beat the T.O.-less Eagles IND v. NE (NE 2) Pats on the 'new frozen tundra' to cover

Hopefully these picks will hold up because I've got a very important case of beer riding on them!

I think the Jets will lose again to Pittsburg, even though NY put up a good effort against them in the regular season. Pennington just doesn't cut it for me, where as I think the powerful running game of Bettis and the Duce is a good formula for victory in postseason play.

Everyone who thinks the Rams are finally playing up to their potential are just kidding themselves. They haven't played a team like ATL in weeks. The closest they have come was playing the J-E-T-S during the final week of the season, barely beating them in a shootout. They beat a Philly team that sat their key players, and they beat an equally poor Seattle team in the playoffs last weekend. Atlanta will prove to be a much stiffer test. Even though the game is on turf in doors, the Falcons have a tough defense to match up against "the greatest show on turf". The wild card is Michael Vick, who happens to be much more dangerous on turf as well. If Vick can continually make the big play, as I'm expecting him to, look for the Rams to have a long day.

The Vikes - Eagles game was a pick between the lesser of two evils. I despise both teams. But I feel the Eagles haven't had a meaningful game in over a month, and haven't figured out how to play with T.O. since he went down. It pains me to say it, but I think the Vikings are the better team right now.

The Colts versus the Patriots will be the game of the weekend. Word has it that the crew up in Boston have purposely had the field at Gillette Stadium uncovered and exposed to the elements for almost a week now in preparation of trying to slow down the prolific Colt's offense behind Peyton Manning and company. I think the weather will play a big role in the game, benefiting the Patriots. Besides, Belicheck will have had two weeks to prepare a game plan against Manning, which he has shown to be able to do in the past.

I guess I'll see just how wrong I am by Sunday night.
